Q&A with eGriz admin Chris Lynn below.
1.) You are(Introduce yourself)
My name is Chris Lynn (eGriz) and I run eGriz.com. I am originally from Spokane, Washington and I graduated from UM in 2004. I currently live in Boulder, Colorado but am trying to get back to either Missoula or Spokane real soon.
2.) Why did you create eGriz?
eGriz.com originally started as a class project at MSU. It was a simple 3 page website about myself and my favorite subject, the Griz. I thought it was kinda fun so I started developing it a little more, bought the domain name and launched the first site on February 3rd, 2001. You can see a history of eGriz.com in images @ http://www.egriz.com/about/history.php
3.) What features does your site offer?
eGriz.com offers a ton of features for Griz Fans and pretty much anyone that visits eGriz.com. We welcome any fans from any school. It is a great place to visit. We have scores, stats and most football related info from each year since 2001. We also have basketball info but not covered as much as football. There is a HUGE collection of photos from each football game and a few from Basketball. The forum is very large with over 4000 members and almost 300,000 posts. You can play games, get tickets, chat about anything and just have a good time.
4.) What do you want to see happen in eGriz’s future?
This is something that I think about a lot. I try to add new features on a yearly basis to improve the fan experience during sports season and also during the off time. Each new year so far has brought an improved website. I admit, it is getting tougher to improve on what I have developed so far but it is possible and I will try my hardest to do so.
5.) Future projects?
The main project I am working on with eGriz.com is working on the code for the site. I am rewriting the entire site to improve performance and also allow for more features that should improve the user experience. I recently moved the site to a new server which does increase costs but was needed to support the heavy traffic the site receives.
I have been working on new projects recently. I am currently developing http://www.bigskyfans.com which will be a great site for the Big Sky Conference. It will be a blog, forum, picture gallery and much more for the conference as a whole. It will unite all fans together to provide the best information possible for fans and be a great community. I also have some other ideas but will get these current projects up and running first so I don’t spread myself too thin.
